Abstract

Stabilization of a spontaneous polarization of the H-2 molecules rather than of the monatomic metallic state at ultrahigh pressures (similar to 250 GPa) is contrasted with stabilization of the disproportionation reaction 2 Bi(IV) = Bi(V) + Bi(III) in BaBiO3.
