Abstract

Four charts for the design of ferrocement trapezoidal roofing elements, which satisfy the collapse and serviceability limit states, are presented. The parameters varied are sections of two different sizes, spans covering 2 m to 7.5 m at 0.5 m intervals and two types of steel bars of diams. ranging from 4 to 8 mm. These charts would serve the designer as helpful tools and reduce the cumbersome trial and error procedure in the design of ferrocement roofing elements. Deflections, crack widths and spacing of lateral bars for the maximum allowable imposed load are also computed and presented. Variations of maximum allowable load, deflection and crack width with respect to the area of tensile steel are presented
