Abstract
The myriad of test methods used to determine the burning rates of polymeric materials generally overlooks the effect of the size of the samples. Each of the test methods insists on a particular geometry for the test specimen, and this leads to a wide variation in the area of burning surface from one test to another. In this paper, we have studied the influence of rod diameter on the rate of burning of polystyrene (PS).
