Abstract

Pb oxyhalide and K and Pb phosphomolybdate glass systems were studied. The structures of these glasses consist of networks built of octahedra. X-ray diffraction, EXAFS, ESR, and optical spectroscopic studies were used to show that [PbO2X4], (X = F, Cl) units are present in PbO-PbX2 glasses. Presence of [MoO6] units in phosphomolybdate glasses was established by using IR, optical and ESR spectroscopic studies. The behavior of bulk modulus and Poisson's ratio of phosphomolybdate glasses is discussed in the light of the various structural groups present
