Abstract

Tile discovery ill 1985 of the decagonal phase with periodicity in one direction and quasiperiodicity in the other two directions has excited considerable interest (1,2). This was followed by the observation that the periodicity perpendicular to tim quasiperiodic plane can assume nmltiple values of n=[l,2,3,4]x0.4 nm (3,4).
