Abstract

The order of the phase transitions at Tc = 189 and Ti = 302 K for $(Rb_2ZnCl_4)$ was determined by thermal expansion measurements. At Tc the crystal volume changes, indicating a 1st order transition. The strong anomalies at Ti suggests a 2nd-order transition as expected by the thermodynamics theory of Crowley and Bruce (1978).
