Abstract

The 2618 Al alloy undergoes ductile fracture in torsion at 750 K and 0.42/s strain rate. According to SEM, this behavior is revealed by fine dimple features on the fractured surface. At higher strain rates, the alloy undergoes brittle fracture and exhibits flat cleavage-like features
