Abstract

Solid solutions of metal acetate hydrazines, $M_{1/3}Co_{2/3}(CH_3COO)_2(N_2H4)_2$, where M = Ni or Zn, have been investigated as precursors of nickel and zinc cobaltites. These precursors decompose exothermically in the temperature range 165-345 $^oC$ to yield the corresponding cobaltites. The formation of cobaltites has been confirmed by thermogravimetric weight loss and X-ray diffraction patterns of the decomposition residues.
