Abstract

In the EPR spectra of calcic plagioclases (CP) from the Archean (3095 Myr old) anorthosites of Holenerspipur (Karnataka, India) the $Fe^{3+}$ spectral component occupies the tetrahedral site; this indicates disordered structural state was attained during crystn. The absence of Ti3+ spectral component in the CP is attributed to the presence of $Ti^{4+}$, based on the recognition of $Ti^{3+}$ signal at g = 1.998 in the EPR spectrum of CP heated to $650^0$ under reducing conditions.
